Robert De Niro had a special guest by his side ahead of being honored at the 78th Cannes Film Festival: girlfriend Tiffany Chen!
The 81-year-old actor was snapped holding hands with Chen as they attended a photocall for his Honorary Palme d’Or on Tuesday, May 13, as the annual festival officially kicked off in France.
De Niro wore a dark-gray suit jacket over a lighter-colored button-up and brown slacks with dark-brown shoes, while his date went similarly neutral in a strapless white dress with darker stripes.
Chen had her dark hair pulled back from her face and finished her look in a cream-colored open cardigan and light-colored flats.
De Niro and Chen, who welcomed daughter Gia together in April 2023, first met on the set of De Niro’s 2015 movie The Intern.
The pair first sparked romance rumors when they were seen holding hands during a vacation in France, and have been together ever since.
While they aren’t spotted together super often, the couple seemed to enjoy a night out together as they caught Paul McCartney’s surprise concert at New York City’s Bowery Ballroom in February.
Aside from Gia, De Niro is also dad to daughters Drena, 53, Airyn, 29, and Helen, 13, plus sons Raphael, 48, Julian, 29, and Elliot, 27.
De Niro’s Honorary Palme d’Or will be awarded “for lifetime achievement” during Cannes’ opening ceremony on Tuesday, according to an official festival release.
The two-time Academy Award winner is a longtime frequenter of Cannes, and even presided over the event’s jury back in 2011, per the release.
“I have such close feelings for Festival de Cannes,” De Niro said in a statement shared in the release. “Especially now when there’s so much in the world pulling us apart, Cannes brings us together — storytellers, filmmakers, fans and friends.”
“It’s like coming home,” he added.
The 78th Cannes Film Festival runs from May 12 through May 24.
