Donald Trump’s immigration enforcement team is under significant pressure to bolster their arrest figures, fulfilling the President’s pledge to the American people.

Since January 20, Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) and other law enforcement partners have been actively conducting raids and apprehending undocumented immigrants throughout the nation.
This initiative has led to a substantial number of individuals being detained. Under Trump’s leadership, officers may potentially more than double the 113,000 arrests made by the agency during Fiscal Year 2024 under Biden’s administration.
Tricia McLaughlin, a spokesperson for the Department of Homeland Security (DHS), noted that in just one month, the DHS has detained over 20,000 individuals with criminal backgrounds.
She further stated that among those arrested, 22 were identified as suspected terrorists and 640 were believed to be gang members.
Initially, ICE provided a breakdown of their daily arrest figures, indicating the number of individuals with criminal records. However, this practice has since been discontinued.
On the day with the highest reported arrests, approximately half of those apprehended by immigration officers had a criminal background.

Desai further commented: “Hundreds of violent, predatory, and gang-affiliated criminal illegal aliens have already been rounded up and deported by ICE since President Trump took office — and the Trump administration is aligned on securing our borders and ensuring that mass deportations are conducted quickly and effectively to put Americans and America First.”
Despite this seemingly unprecedented rate of action, Trump is reportedly dissatisfied with the deportation process’s pace.
According to NBC News, Trump is ‘angry’ with the current progress in deporting individuals.
This dissatisfaction resulted in Immigration and Customs Enforcement acting Director Caleb Vitello being reassigned to a different position, as confirmed by a Department of Homeland Security spokesperson to Politico. An unnamed successor is expected to take over and intensify the efforts.
