Crispy Fried Calamari

This dish is quick to prepare, featuring calamari rings coated in a seasoned flour mixture and deep-fried until perfectly crispy. Ingredients:

  • Calamari: 300g squid (cleaned, cut into rings)
  • Coating: ½ cup all-purpose flour, ¼ cup cornstarch, ½ tsp salt, ½ tsp black pepper, ½ tsp paprika, ½ tsp garlic powder
  • Liquid: 1 egg (beaten) or ½ cup buttermilk (for extra crispiness)
  • Oil: For deep frying
  • Garnish: Lemon wedges, chopped parsley
  • Dipping Sauce: Marinara or garlic aioli (optional)

Instructions:

  1. Pat dry calamari, dip in egg or buttermilk.
  2. Coat in seasoned flour mix, shaking off excess.
  3. Heat oil to 180°C (350°F), fry calamari in batches for 2–3 minutes until golden.
  4. Drain on paper towels, garnish with lemon and parsley.
