Vegan Fried Oyster Mushrooms

This vegan-friendly dish features crispy, golden-brown oyster mushrooms that mimic the texture and flavor of fried chicken. Perfect as a snack, side dish, or main course, these mushrooms are marinated, coated in a seasoned batter, and deep-fried for the ultimate crunch.

Ingredients:

  • 200g oyster mushrooms
  • 1 cup plant milk + 1 tbsp vinegar (buttermilk)
  • 1 tsp each: garlic powder, onion powder, paprika, salt, black pepper
  • 1 cup flour, ½ cup cornstarch, 1 tsp baking powder
  • ½ tsp cayenne (optional)
  • 2 cups oil (for frying)

Instructions:

  1. Marinate: Mix plant milk, vinegar, and spices. Soak mushrooms for 15-30 min.
  2. Coat: Mix flour, cornstarch, and spices. Dredge mushrooms in flour, dip in marinade, then re-coat.
  3. Fry: Heat oil to 170-180°C. Fry mushrooms for 3-5 min until crispy.
  4. Serve: Enjoy hot with your favorite sauce!
